Jesus Prays for His Disciples

This week we will consider John 17. This is part two of five. Give careful consideration to Jesus' high priestly prayer.

“…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
(John 17:21; NKJV)

Jesus prays for His disciples. In John 17, Jesus prays for His disciples. The disciples are the Father’s gift to His son (v. 6). The disciples received the Father’s word (v. 6). They are a joint possession of the Father and Son (v. 9-10). They glorify Christ (v. 10). When the Son is glorified, they will no longer have Him on Earth (v. 11). They are hated by the world (v. 14-15), but they are being sent into the world (v. 18). Jesus was willing to sanctify Himself for His disciples (v. 19). The Son asks the Father to keep them in unity (v. 11). He asks the Father to keep them from the evil one (v. 15). He also asks the Father keep them set apart (v. 17).
