Each of the descriptive terms of God’s people describes our relationship to God and our responsibility to Him.
1. The Church: “the called out people” (MATTHEW 16:18)
Relationship: We are the people who belong to Christ.
Responsibility: We are to keep ourselves separate from the world.
2. The Body: “a living organism” (EPHESIANS 1:22-23)
Relationship: We are the body of Christ on earth.
Responsibility: We are to hold fast to the Head, grow, and maintain purity and holiness.
3. The Bride: “a marriage figure” (EPHESIANS 5:22-33)
Relationship: We are the espoused bride of Christ.
Responsibility: We are to be faithful to Christ and bear fruit.
4. The Kingdom: “a government figure” (COLOSSIANS 1:13)
Relationship: We are the citizens of the kingdom of Christ.
Responsibility: We are to be loyal to our King.
5. The Household: “a family” (1 TIMOTHY 3:15)
Relationship: We are the children of God.
Responsibility: We are to be obedient to our God and Father.
6. The Temple: “a house of worship” (EPHESIANS 2:19-22)
Relationship: We are living stones in the temple of God.
Responsibility: We are to worship and present our bodies a living and holy sacrifice.
